Departure

Meet at the Maison du Tourisme du Pays de Redon at 47°39'036N 002°05'057W to start your walk. The itinerary will take you just under an hour as it winds your path through the city's interesting sites.

 

City Walk

Stage 1: Head towards the church and stop at 47°39'069N 2°05'052W. Near the old ramparts you will discover an informational marker on the old fortified city of Redon.

Question: In the old walled city, how many doors were there? This number will be A.

 

Stage 2: Continue along in the direction of the Gothic Tower at 47°39'036N 2°05'052W. You will another informational marker near the bell tower.

Question: What is the architectural style of the bell tower? Count the number of letters in the answer, add 2, and now you have the number for B.

 

Stage 3: Slip into the cloister at 47°39'034N 2°05'051W.
Question: Find the word that is carved the most often in the cloister. Take the first letter of this word, and find what position it is in the alphabet. C will be the last digit of this number (for example: if you have the 24th letter of the alphabet, the last digit is 4).

 

Stage 4: Now walk towards Place de la Duchesse Anne. Take Grand Rue in the city center, and enter the following coordinates in your GPS: 47°39'022N 2°05'089W.
Question: From Place de la Duchesse Anne, count the number of timber frame houses. This number will be D.

Stage 5: Follow Grande Rue until it ends, where the rivers cross at 47°38'906N 2°05'104W.
Question: What river intersects the "Canal de Nantes à Brest"? Count the number of letters and this number will be E.

 

Stage 6: Continue along Rue du Port, towards 47°38'812N 2°05'157W, where you'll find salt warehouses and another informational marker.
On what date was this building erected? F will be the first digit of this date.

The Cache

Now you can finally head towards the cache, preferably by way of the Croix des Marins ("The Sailors' Cross"), at the end of the port. Admire the view and enjoy the quiet water of the Vilaine. Please be sure children are accompanied by adults.
