What is the geocaching
Begun in 2000, geocaching is a worldwide game for all the users of GPS (Global Positioning System) or mobile terminals like an Iphone. Its principle is to create or situate caches, then to share your experiences on line.
The Geocacher lets a « treasure » (a waterproof, safe container for the content) in a place accessible without any danger, on a public property and outdoor. Then he publishes the exact GPS elements of the cache to enable the other GPS users to go the treasure hunting. The cache hides as often as not ornaments and many gadgets (pens, toys, notebooks, pictures...)
If the geocacher who finds the cache wants to take one of the object in the container, he has to let an object in return, then complete the notebook in the container (in which he will indicate the date of its visit, a comment and what he took) and finally, put back the treasure where he found it.
There are more than 700 000 caches in the world! In >>France, it started about 5 years ago. Today, there are about 10 000 active caches in the country.
Geocaching is appreciated by all generations, people who like to be with family or friends and have a great respect for the environment. It enables to discover famous places and other less famous, to be as close as possible to nature and to share a pleasant time together
